Pada tahun 1986, Mario Brunello adalah orang Italia pertama yang pernah memenangkan Kompetisi Tchaikovsky bagian cello di Moscow. Sejak itu, Brunello telah bermain dengan orkestra bergengsi di dunia, diantaranya adalah London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, dan Orchestre National de France, serta pernah bermain atas arahan conductor terkenal seperti Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Yuri Temirkanov, Riccardo Chailly, Ton Koopman, dan Seiji Ozawa. Mario Brunello sering mengambil peran ganda sebagai conductor dan solois, dan pada tahun 1994 ia mendirikan "Orchestra d'Archi Italiana".

In 1986, Mario Brunello was the first Italian ever to win the Tchaikovsky Competition in cello section in Moscow. Since then, Brunello has played with the most important orchestra in the world: London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Orchestre National de France, only to name a few, and under conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Yuri Temirkanov, Riccardo Chailly, Ton Koopman, and  Seiji Ozawa. Mario Brunello often takes on dual roles of conductor and soloist, and in 1994 he founded the "Orchestra d'Archi Italiana”.
