Goethe-Institut and Khmer Arts present
Contemporary Southeast Asian Choreography
“Fire! Fire! Fire!”
Featuring: Eko Supriyanto
(Indonesia), Pichet Klunchun (Thailand) and Sophiline Cheam Shapiro (Cambodia)
Untuk kali ketiga dan terakhir Goethe-Institut di Jakarta bekerja sama dengan Goethe-Institut di Bangkok, Khmer Arts Theater di
Phnom Penh, Pichet Klunchun & Dancers Bangkok dan Solo Dance Studio mengadakan pertukaran interkultural dalam bidang
tari kontemporer. Tahun ini ketiga koreografer: Sophiline Cheam Shapiro (Kamboja), Pichet Klunchun (Thailand) dan Eko
Supriyanto (Indonesia), dan para penari pilihannya akan mempersembahkan versi
terakhir koreografi mereka kepada publik yang seluruhnya dibuat
berdasarkan satu episode yang sama dari epik Ramayana. Pertunjukan ketiga karya ini akan menampilkan
perbandingan dan kontras dalam pendekatan ketiga koreografer ketika
mengintrepetasi satu subjek yang sama.
Goethe-Institut merasa bangga dan bahagia dapat membawa ketiga karya ini
dalam bentuk satu tur keliling Asia Tenggara yaitu di Phnom Penh, Bangkok,
Jakarta dan Surakarta. Program
ini adalah bagian dari inisiatif tanzconnexions yang juga digagas oleh
Goethe-Institut, suatu usaha berkelanjutan untuk mendukung pertukaran dan
produksi bersama dalam bidang tari kontemporer di kawasan Asia-Pasifik.
For the 3rd and last time, the Goethe-Institut in
cooperation with the Khmer Arts Theater in Phnom Penh, Pichet Klunchun &
Dancers Bangkok and the Solo Dance Studio have come together to engage on an
intercultural exchange on contemporary dance. This year the three
choreographers, Sophiline Cheam Shapiro (Cambodia), Pichet Klunchun (Thailand)
and Eko Supriyanto (Indonesia) present their final choreographies to the
public, each based on the same episode from the Ramayana epic. The performances will compare and contrast how
the three choreographers take different approaches when interpreting the same
subject.
The Goethe-Institut is
happy to announce that the pieces will go on tour and will be presented in
Phnom Penh, Bangkok, Jakarta and Solo. The program is part of the
Goethe-Institut’s tanzconnexions-initiative, an ongoing effort to fuel exchange
and co-productions in the field of contemporary dance in the countries of the
Asia-Pacific region.
